From September 2023 – 2024, the family run business is celebrating its 30th anniversary and its ongoing commitment to a high level of service and customer care that is unmatched in the washroom services sector. A business built on simplicity, consistent high standards, fast reactive servicing, and a high level of customer care.

1993
S W Hygiene LTD is born
Beginning its journey in 1993 as B.T.E Vending Services LTD, our founder Brian Sampson opened our first office in Cornwall as the sole distributor of Breath Test Analysers for the UK hospitality sector.

Expanding our offer
Soon after our launch, we expanded beyond Breath Test Analysers to offer personal BreathScan alcohol detectors JC1 and became the South West of England's sole supplier of ‘Mates’ Virgin condom vending machines.

Introducing South West Hygiene
By now we were already offering washroom services to our clients but added South West Hygiene to our family and developed the business further from there, trading as South West Hygiene.

2000s
Providing additional washroom services
The early 2000s saw us continue our expansion, turning us into the business we are now. We began to offer additional washroom services such as sanitary bins to our customers whilst also expanding our client base across South West England.

2009
Introducing Think Hygiene
Looking back, the addition of the Think Hygiene brand to the S W Hygiene family was a huge moment. Think Hygiene is our sister brand where we provide our extensive range of efficient and affordable washroom services to businesses across the whole of the UK.

Accreditations achieved
In February 2011, for the first time, we achieved the accreditation status of ISO9001 and ISO14001. Since then the entire S W Hygiene team has worked hard to successfully achieve our annual reaccreditations, continually monitoring our systems to ensure we exceed the required standards.

2019
Adding Azure Hygiene
We expanded again in 2019 by adding Azure Hygiene to the S W Hygiene family. Matching S W Hygiene’s values, Azure Hygiene enabled us to provide our high level of service to clients in Berkshire and the surrounding areas.

New offices in Bournemouth and Bristol
After opening new offices in Bristol and Bournemouth in 2019, we began providing washroom services to almost 10,000 sites a month across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey, and West Sussex.

Going electric
2021 saw us introduce both hybrid and fully electric vehicles into our fleet. Where possible, at S W Hygiene we also source local products to support the local community and reduce our transportation costs. We’ve also transitioned to paperless Service Centres, with any materials that can be recycled, separated and recycled locally.

30th anniversary
Our hard work, care and quality of service provision is reflected through the long-term relationships we have with our clients. Looking ahead, S W Hygiene is committed to fostering continued growth, and this milestone serves as a foundation for even more exceptional service in the future as we remain dedicated to the mission of setting the standard for hygiene services in the UK.

Opening our new office in Poole
Due to our expanding customer base in Dorset and the surrounding counties we had outgrown our existing depot by Bournemouth Airport. Our new larger Service Centre in Poole means we are now capable of holding more stock as well as offering a new training facility and office space for our Dorset based team.
