We at South West Hygiene are extremely conscious of our environmental impact and have taken great steps in our bid to become a carbon neutral company.

As responsible members of the community, we feel we have a moral obligation to ensure we have a minimal effect on the environment.

We are working across all aspects of the business to reduce our carbon footprint and have sourced alternative ways of working to reduce our impact. We have been awarded the ISO14001 Environmental Management Accreditation. S W Hygiene Ltd have held this for over ten years.

How we are working to be Carbon Neutral

All our waste is used to generate energy that is fed back to the National Grid to power homes and businesses.
The by-product of ash that is created from the waste incineration process is used in asphalt which is in turn used to make roads.
We have introduced both Hybrid and fully electric vehicles into our fleet and are looking to move the remaining fleet over. The remaining fleet is all minimum Euro 6 standard.
Where possible we source local products to both support the local community but also reduce transportation costs.
We are moving our Service Centres over to paperless, but any materials that can be recycled are separated and recycled locally.
All of our Service Centres use energy efficient lighting and water saving management systems.
We use an antimicrobial sanitary bin liner that has removed the requirement for a germicidal powder, saving a staggering amount of over 5000 plastic packaging bottles per annum.
With AUK Hygiene we have organised a wash and refill process for our empty soap containers. Eliminating single-use plastics with refillable 10L containers which can be refilled time and time again with no requirement for outer packaging.

We now offer a fully recycled sanitary unit which is made from HDPE plastic offcuts that would normally go to waste.
Where possible we upcycle our used units which go through an exhaustive refurbishment process which limits the requirement for further plastic manufacturing.
We have sourced and now offer an Oxygen generated air freshener which is much kinder on the environment than the industry standard Aerosols.
We offer water saving products that vastly reduce the amount of water required within urinals. In conjunction with these we offer treatments that contain Probiotics (Good Bacteria) that neutralise the bad bacteria and create a safe harmony within the pipework whilst using minimal water.
Our Service Technicians are located all over our serviced areas, which reduces the amount of travel required to each location.
We are constantly evaluating our products and processes to see where we can reduce our impact on the environment and offer a more environmentally friendly service.
