Sampson, the mighty bear, wasn’t always part of the South West Hygiene team. He started out in the wild, roaming the vast expanse of Bodmin Moor, where his keen sense of smell made him the unofficial “cleanliness inspector” of the area. Whether it was finding the freshest streams or ensuring the moor was spotless, Sampson’s attention to cleanliness was unmatched. If there was one thing Sampson loved more than a good nap, it was a pristine environment.

One day, while wandering near a campsite, Sampson noticed a South West Hygiene van parked nearby. Intrigued by the promise of promoting 1st-class customer service and hygiene, Sampson couldn’t resist investigating further. After all, he’d spent years ensuring nature stayed clean—why not help bring the same level of care to the world of washroom services?
With his big heart and even bigger paws, Sampson decided to venture into the world of hygiene services. He quickly joined South West Hygiene, bringing with him his wild expertise and a genuine passion for cleanliness. It didn’t take long for Sampson to become a beloved figure within the company. His natural instinct for promoting the highest level of customer service and maintaining the cleanest environments made him an invaluable asset to the team.
Whether he’s ensuring sanitation at commercial sites, conducting thorough inspections, or offering advice on eco-friendly cleaning practices, Sampson is always on the job, doing what he loves most—keeping things clean and safe.
Paul has worked within the service industry for all of his career. Working in a variety of industry sectors has enabled him to be able to pick the best parts, and instil them in to the core/heart of South West Hygiene. Paul believes having the right ‘Team’ has been the key to the success of his family’s business, and the company would not be where it is today without their dedication, and most importantly, their enjoyment of working for South West Hygiene.
Since joining South West Hygiene in 2008 from the IT industry, James has played a key part in building the business to what it is today. His passion for the team and the customer is at the heart of everything we do. “My role is to drive through continuous improvement in everything we do at SWH, from systems, teamwork and logistics to communication and customer care. I strongly believe in treating good people well and a happy team = a happy customer, lessons I learnt from seeing my Dad running the family business as I grew up. I am very proud of the service we deliver, our team and our success as a business”.
Nick has been with us at South West Hygiene since 2019, originally in the role of Regional Manager before moving on to Head up our Sales and Marketing team. Nick came to us with a wealth of knowledge, with a background in successfully managing vast operational teams. Nick’s role is to build on the company’s successes and develop the business whilst maintaining the high service standards and family ethos that our customers have come to expect.
Lee joined South West Hygiene back in 2012, starting on the old reception desk which helped give him an insight into all departments within the company. He then moved into the Admin & Sales team which is now our new Customer Care Team. Lee really enjoys working at South West Hygiene but most importantly looking after our customers and making sure they’re happy with our products and services.
Debbie joined South West Hygiene in December 2016 working within the administration team. Debbie now forms up part of our Customer Care Team and very much enjoys resolving complex tasks and customer interaction Debbie is married with 2 fantastic Children and 2 dogs. When time allows she enjoys baking and a variety of handcrafts.
Darren located from Leeds to Cornwall in 2023 with his wife Sarah, seeking a new challenge and a life by the sea. With a degree in Business & Finance and previously ran his own haulage business for over 27 years, Darren brings a vast experience of customer care and team development to SW Hygiene. Outside of work Darren enjoys weeks away in his campervan with his wife Sarah and dog Dexter. His passion is for enjoying the outdoor activities particularly hiking and mountain biking as well as kayaking in the many Cornish bays.
Tracey has been with us at South West Hygiene since 2016. Tracey’s previous experience across various different sectors has given her a unique skill set that she uses to make sure the team have everything they need, and customers in turn are very happy. Excellent customer service has always been Tracey’s main focus. She works with the drivers empowering them to provide the best service, maintain great customer service and build long term relationships. Tracey is a passionate member of the National Trust so gets out about right across the South of England visiting all their properties and grounds. If the weather doesn’t allow, you’ll find her at the cinema or eating out with friends and family in some of the many fantastic restaurants throughout the South West.
Karen joined South West Hygiene in 2017. Starting out as a Service Technician and working her way up to our Service Centre Manager within Bristol. Working on the road for three and a half years has given Karen fantastic knowledge and experience of our customer requirements. As much as she enjoyed being a Service Technician, as a Service Centre Manager it means she can put all of her skills and expertise in to successfully managing the team. Karen is a sports fanatic, football being her main passion. She also likes to travel and spend time with her family.
With over 12 years of experience in operational and contract management within the security industry, including mobile response and static guarding, Emma brings a wealth of knowledge. Her expertise spans various management areas, including HR, fleet management, and cultivating strong customer relationships to ensure our services consistently exceed expectations. Outside of work, Emma enjoys quality time with her family and friends. She loves traveling abroad and makes a point to visit South Wales at least once a year. A passionate rugby union fan, Emma enjoys both men’s and women’s competitions and can often be found cheering for the England teams, especially during events like the Six Nations!
Adam joined us at South West Hygiene in 2019 to manage our warehouse and stores, and brings a unique background of warehousing and retail to his role within the company. Adam is responsible for the stores and stock at Head Office and works very closely with the teams in both Bournemouth and Bristol, taking an overseer role with their stores. Outside of work, Adam is a big live music fan and can be regularly found at gigs and festivals. He is a big football fan and is the chairman for the company fantasy football league.
Janet has worked within Finance since leaving education and first joined South West Hygiene in 1999, and thoroughly enjoys her role.
“My colleagues are very friendly and we work great as a team, everyone at South West Hygiene is approachable.
Outside of work, my husband and I enjoy relaxing and walking at weekends, stopping for refreshments along the way. I consider myself lucky to live and work in Cornwall, one of the nicest places in the Uk. I am a countryside person at heart.”
Nicola has joined the South West Hygiene Team, bringing with her a wealth of experience from many years working within a busy financial services practice. Highly self-motivated and always eager to learn, she has successfully completed both her AAT Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications.
Since joining the team, Nicola has quickly become a valued member of the South West Hygiene family. Her attention to detail, calm approach, and willingness to get stuck in make her a natural fit for the close-knit way we work.
Outside of work, Nicola’s world revolves around her family, and she loves nothing more than spending quality time with them. When she’s not with them, you’ll often find her immersed in a good gaming session or letting off steam at a heavy metal concert. Her mix of professionalism, enthusiasm, and personality brings wonderful energy to the team, and we’re delighted to have her with us.
Tina joined South West Hygiene in December 2021. She has over 20 years of people management experience in various large organisations. She has worked in many fields in that time but predominantly within HR and Compliance. Outside of work her time is taken up with family and her numerous animals, she is also a fan of Rugby Union and Formula 1.
Rachel has come to South West Hygiene after having spent the last 24 years in the motor industry. She relocated from London to Cornwall in 2019 with her partner and is enjoying a more relaxed pace of life. She enjoys exploring the beautiful county and finding a cosy pub for a spot of lunch, or a tea shop to have a nice cuppa and a slice of cake! With a more relaxed lifestyle she is rediscovering her love of cooking and baking. Along with a new found hobby of gardening; so in the warmer months she is usually found pottering around the garden.
